How to Troubleshoot an Acumen Fireplace Remote Control
If you have a standard Acumen fireplace remote control and you can't get it to work with your fireplace watch our video above or use these simple troubleshooting steps to get it working again.
Step By Step Guide
1. Locate the Receiver Box
Most often your receiver box will be located within the controls cavity of your fireplace, like it is here - check to make sure the wires are secured tight to the terminals. If your fireplace is working properly and your receiver box is in working condition you should be able to slide the slider switch on the receiver box to the "On" position and your fireplace should turn on. If it does not, either your receiver box is broken, or more likely you'll need to contact a gas plumber as your fireplace is not in working condition.
2. Remove the Batteries
If your receiver box is battery operated, make sure the batteries are new and have a full charge - do so for the remote control too. It's possible that if you haven't replaced the batteries recently corrosion may have formed and this could prevent the system from operating, if that's the case you may need to purchase new units. If your batteries have a good charge, the first step is to remove them from both the receiver box and the remote control.
3. Turn the Receiver Box to the Off Position
Once the batteries have been removed from your receiver box and remote control, slide the receiver switch to the "Off" position.
4. Re-Insert the Batteries
Once the receiver box is in the off position, re-insert the batteries first into the receiver box and then slide the receiver switch back to the "Remote" position.
5. Re-insert Remote Batteries
After the batteries have been placed back into the receiver box, replace them into the remote control.
6. Press the On Button
Once the batters have been replaced in both units, press any button on the remote control - we typically press the on button so the unit will light immediately indicating it works.
7. Change the Dip-Switches
If these steps don't work - you can change the position of the dips switches on the back of the remote control to any position you like. Once the dip switches have been changed, repeat steps 2-6.
The Conclusion:
Acumen also makes a remote control kit with a 110VAC receiver box.
